Trial Library Raises $10M Series A to Expand AI-Driven Access to Clinical Trials

Trial Library, a San Francisco–based healthcare technology company that uses artificial intelligence to expand access to clinical trials, announced the successful close of a $10 million Series A funding round as it seeks to accelerate its mission to make clinical research a standard option for patients and providers across the United States. The investment brings the company’s total outside capital raised to approximately $15 million since its founding and reflects growing investor confidence in the emerging space of AI-enabled clinical trial access.

Founded in 2022 by physician-scientist Dr. Hala Borno, Trial Library has developed an AI-powered platform that connects community-based healthcare providers with clinical trials as a care option, with the goal of democratizing access to precision medicine and reducing longstanding disparities in trial participation. The company’s technology supports provider activation, compliant patient eligibility identification, and longitudinal navigation throughout the trial lifecycle. Its platform operates in more than 320 clinics and engages over 1,500 providers nationwide, and Trial Library has established strategic partnerships with payers and health plans as it expands its reach beyond traditional academic research centers.

The Series A funding round was co-led by SemperVirens Venture Capital and Next Ventures, two investors focused on supporting innovation in healthcare, technology, and life sciences. Additional participation came from Sanofi Ventures, the corporate venture arm of the global pharmaceutical company; Lux Capital, a venture firm with a deep track record in frontier technology and healthcare; Civilization Ventures, which invests in mission-driven, socially impactful companies; How Women Invest, a community and investment network focused on gender-inclusive investing; and Overwater Ventures, a venture capital firm backing early-stage technology ventures.

Investors in the round highlighted the importance of Trial Library’s work to bridge structural gaps in clinical trial research, particularly in community and decentralized settings where a large proportion of patients receive care yet historically have limited access to trials. According to participants in the financing, the company’s model aligns incentives across patients, providers, payers, and life science sponsors, fostering a more efficient, equitable, and patient-centric research ecosystem.

Trial Library plans to use the new capital to expand its clinical network, deepen partnerships with payers and healthcare systems, and enhance its technology infrastructure to deliver more meaningful trial access at the point of care. Company leadership has emphasized that broadening trial participation is not only a matter of clinical research efficiency but also a key factor in improving health outcomes for diverse patient populations, many of whom are underrepresented in traditional clinical studies.

Since launching its AI-enabled platform, Trial Library has also demonstrated measurable impact through collaborations with health organizations. For example, its work with The Oncology Institute generated hundreds of patient referrals in a single year, while a partnership with the American Oncology Network has identified eligible patients for solid tumor trials early in implementation. These early outcomes showcase the potential of provider-engaged AI platforms to improve both recruitment and retention in clinical research settings.

Trial Library’s approach has garnered attention not only for its technological innovation but also for its commitment to equity and inclusion in clinical research. The company reports that a significant portion of its patient referrals come from historically underrepresented groups, including non-white patients and individuals on Medicaid, and that its model addresses logistical and socioeconomic barriers that often limit trial participation.

By integrating advanced AI, human-centered navigation, and strategic healthcare partnerships, Trial Library is positioning itself at the intersection of AI-driven health technology and patient-centric clinical research. As the company continues to scale, its funding and network expansion reflect a broader industry shift toward decentralized, community-based research models that can support more inclusive, equitable, and effective access to cutting-edge medical trials.
