Parasail Raises $10 Million Seed Round Led by Basis Set Ventures to Expand On-Demand AI Compute Network

Parasail, a San Francisco–based startup developing an AI Deployment Network that provides on-demand, scalable GPU compute for artificial intelligence workloads, has raised $10 million in seed funding to accelerate the expansion of its infrastructure and platform. The seed round was led by Basis Set Ventures, with participation from Threshold Ventures, Buckley Ventures, and Black Opal Ventures, signaling strong investor interest in new approaches to AI compute access.

Founded in 2023 by Mike Henry and Tim Harris, Parasail is focused on addressing one of the biggest constraints facing AI development today: limited and inflexible access to high-performance GPUs. As demand for training and deploying large-scale AI models continues to surge, many companies struggle with long-term cloud contracts, capacity shortages, and escalating infrastructure costs. Parasail’s AI Deployment Network is designed to offer a more flexible alternative by aggregating a global pool of GPUs and dynamically matching workloads to available compute resources in real time.

The company’s platform supports a range of high-end GPU hardware, including Nvidia H100, H200, A100, and RTX 4090 chips, allowing customers to run training and inference workloads without committing to a single cloud provider or fixed contract terms. Parasail positions this approach as a way to remove vendor lock-in and reduce friction for AI teams that need to scale compute usage up or down quickly based on project demands.

According to Parasail, the newly raised capital will be used to expand its global GPU footprint, strengthen its orchestration and scheduling technologies, and grow its engineering and customer-facing teams. The company is also investing in improving reliability and performance across its distributed network, with the goal of delivering consistent, production-grade compute for both startups and enterprise customers.

Parasail’s AI Deployment Network is built to simplify the path from experimentation to production. By offering plug-and-play inference tools and automated workload management, the platform allows AI developers to deploy models more rapidly than with traditional infrastructure setups. This flexibility is particularly relevant for teams working on large language models, computer vision systems, and other compute-intensive applications that require elastic scaling.

The company has already begun working with a range of AI-focused organizations that are using Parasail’s network to accelerate model training and inference workflows. These early customers span different segments of the AI ecosystem, from developer tooling to applied machine learning platforms, highlighting broad demand for alternatives to hyperscale cloud providers. Parasail believes its model can complement existing cloud services while giving customers more control over cost, performance, and deployment flexibility.

Investor backing reflects confidence in Parasail’s strategy to modernize AI infrastructure. Basis Set Ventures, the lead investor, is known for supporting early-stage technology companies with ambitious technical visions, while Threshold Ventures brings experience scaling enterprise software and infrastructure platforms. Buckley Ventures and Black Opal Ventures add further support from firms focused on backing founders tackling complex, high-impact technical challenges.

Parasail’s leadership has emphasized the importance of democratizing access to AI compute so that innovation is not limited to organizations with the deepest pockets or long-standing cloud relationships. By offering real-time, contract-free GPU access, the company aims to level the playing field for AI builders and enable faster experimentation and deployment across industries.

As the AI infrastructure market becomes increasingly competitive, Parasail is positioning itself as a differentiated player through its combination of distributed hardware, intelligent orchestration, and flexible pricing. With fresh seed funding in place, the company plans to continue refining its platform, expanding global availability, and supporting the growing computational needs of AI developers worldwide.
