Uplane Raises $4.5 Million Seed Round to Build AI-Powered Alternative to Marketing Agencies

Uplane, an artificial intelligence startup developing software designed to replace traditional marketing agencies, has raised $4.5 million in seed funding to expand its AI-powered marketing automation platform. The round was led by Play Ventures, with participation from Y Combinator, 20VC, Multimodal Ventures, and Rebel Fund. The company plans to use the new capital to grow its team, expand customer adoption, and continue developing its platform for automated digital marketing execution.

Founded in 2025, Uplane is building an AI-first performance marketing platform that enables companies to research markets, create advertising materials, launch campaigns, optimize spending, and analyze results through a single system. The company aims to reduce the reliance on traditional marketing agencies by automating many of the repetitive and time-consuming processes involved in digital advertising.

Based in San Francisco, Uplane was founded by Julius Körfgen, Marvin Abdel-Massih, and Lukas Vollmer. The founders developed the company around the idea that artificial intelligence could improve the speed and efficiency of performance marketing workflows, from generating advertising content to managing campaigns and reallocating budgets based on performance data.

Uplane’s platform allows brands to create and test advertising campaigns across major digital channels, including Meta, Google, TikTok, and LinkedIn. The software can generate AI-powered visuals and copy for ads, create landing pages, and help companies identify which campaigns deliver the strongest results. By combining automation with performance analysis, the company aims to help marketing teams run more experiments and optimize advertising investments faster than traditional agency-led processes.

The startup’s funding comes as companies increasingly explore artificial intelligence tools to improve marketing efficiency and reduce operational costs. Digital advertising often requires continuous testing of creative materials, audience targeting strategies, and campaign settings, creating opportunities for AI systems that can automate decision-making and accelerate optimization. Uplane is positioning its platform as an integrated solution that handles multiple stages of the marketing process rather than focusing on only one area of campaign management.

Uplane participated in the Y Combinator Summer 2025 batch, gaining support and exposure through the startup accelerator’s global network. The company’s founders have backgrounds in technology and performance marketing, with Körfgen previously working in growth roles and Vollmer bringing extensive software engineering experience, including leadership roles at technology companies.

The company has attracted early customers across different industries, including organizations such as Deutsche Bahn, Wagetap, and Aonic. Uplane says its platform has helped customers improve advertising performance by enabling faster campaign iteration and more efficient allocation of marketing budgets. The company is targeting businesses with significant digital advertising expenditures that need scalable tools to manage and optimize campaigns.

Investors backing Uplane see potential in the company’s approach to applying artificial intelligence to one of the largest areas of business spending: marketing. As businesses increasingly demand measurable returns from advertising investments, AI-driven platforms that can automate campaign management and improve performance analytics are gaining attention from venture capital firms.

The seed financing will allow Uplane to expand its engineering and business teams while continuing to build integrations with additional advertising platforms. The company also plans to onboard more customers and improve the capabilities of its AI marketing system as it works toward its goal of becoming a replacement for traditional marketing agency workflows.

With its new investment, Uplane joins a growing group of AI startups attempting to transform established business processes through automation. The company’s focus on performance marketing reflects a broader shift toward AI systems that can independently execute complex tasks, analyze outcomes, and continuously improve operations. As businesses seek more efficient ways to manage digital advertising, Uplane aims to establish its platform as a scalable alternative for companies looking to maximize marketing results with fewer manual processes.
