Trunk Tools has secured a $40 million Series B funding round led by Insight Partners, with participation from Redpoint Ventures, Innovation Endeavors, Stepstone, Liberty Mutual Strategic Ventures, and Prudence. This brings the company’s total raised capital to approximately $70 million, empowering it to scale its AI-powered construction solutions and tackle the roughly $1 trillion in annual productivity losses across the industry.

The platform, designed by construction professionals, employs advanced AI to manage and surface insights from vast troves of project documentation—including drawings, specifications, RFIs, schedules, and submittals. Teams can ask natural-language questions and receive fast, accurate, and actionable answers. Fully autonomous agents now handle workflows previously managed by humans and connect data directly to project schedules to flag risks before they result in costly delays or rework.

The company was founded by CEO Dr. Sarah Buchner, whose background spans from starting as a carpenter at age 12 in a small Austrian village to rising through roles such as superintendent, project manager, and group leader. Driven by frustrations with jobsite inefficiencies, she pursued a PhD in civil engineering and data science, ultimately creating this AI-driven solution to modernize construction workflows.

Dr. Buchner shares: “Construction is the backbone of our global economy and daily life, yet the industry is still bogged down by outdated tools, fragmented systems, and overwhelming bureaucracy. We built Trunk Tools to eliminate the guesswork. General-purpose AI simply isn’t advanced enough for an industry built on proprietary data and complex workflows. This new round of funding gives us the resources to bring vertically tailored AI reasoning agents to every job site.”

Already deployed on hundreds of construction projects, Trunk Tools has achieved 5× revenue growth over the past six months. According to Jeff Horing, Co-founder and Managing Director at Insight Partners, “Trunk Tools is helping define a new category of AI with its construction platform. The recent advancements in AI have allowed significant value to be unlocked from construction documentation, and Sarah and her team have the deep industry expertise and technical know-how to build solutions that will transform the jobsite.”

The newly raised funds will be allocated toward expanding engineering, product, and go-to-market teams, growing its field enablement program, and scaling the AI platform’s capabilities across increasingly complex and diverse construction projects.
