Rowan Raises $3.3M Seed Round Led by DRW to Build AI Platform for Small Business Succession Planning

Rowan, an AI-powered platform focused on helping small business owners navigate succession planning and business transitions, has raised $3.3 million in seed funding to expand its product and scale its AI-driven tools for business exit readiness.

The round was led by DRW, a global trading firm, with participation from Motivate Ventures, Mercury Fund, and angel investor Eddie Lou, bringing a mix of financial markets expertise and early-stage venture backing to the company’s growth plans.

Rowan builds an AI-assisted platform designed to help small business owners prepare for one of the most complex moments in entrepreneurship: selling or transitioning their company. The platform combines automation with guided expert support to organize financial records, document operations, improve cash flow visibility, and structure businesses in a way that makes them more attractive to buyers.

The company was founded by CEO Steven Glod, alongside co-founder Christopher Weaver, with a mission to address what they describe as a growing “succession gap” in the small business ecosystem. As millions of founders approach retirement age, many businesses struggle to transition smoothly due to fragmented financial records, unclear operational processes, and limited access to structured advisory support.

Rowan’s platform uses AI to streamline the preparation process by analyzing business data, identifying gaps in documentation, and guiding owners through steps required to become “buyer-ready.” In addition to software automation, the company also provides human advisory support through its “Guides” model, which combines consulting with AI-driven insights.

Early customers use Rowan to reduce dependency on owners during the transition process, improve financial transparency, and create structured data rooms for potential buyers. The platform is also designed to help buyers better evaluate opportunities by standardizing how business performance and operational health are presented.

Investor interest in Rowan reflects broader momentum in AI applications for financial services and small business infrastructure. Firms such as DRW and Mercury Fund have increasingly backed startups that apply machine learning to operational and financial workflows, particularly in underserved segments like small and mid-sized businesses.

The company plans to use the new funding to expand its engineering and product teams, enhance its AI capabilities, and scale its go-to-market efforts across the U.S. It is also expected to deepen its hybrid model of AI tools and human advisory services, positioning itself as a full-stack solution for business succession planning.

As the market for business exits continues to grow, Rowan is positioning itself as a category-defining platform that modernizes how small businesses prepare for ownership transitions, combining artificial intelligence with structured advisory support to reduce friction in one of the most critical phases of the business lifecycle.
