Prefix Maintenance Raises $7.5 Million Seed Round to Scale AI-Powered Facility Management Platform
Prefix Maintenance, a New York-based software company modernizing repair and maintenance operations for multi-site restaurant and retail businesses, has raised $7.5 million in seed funding to expand its artificial intelligence-powered facility management platform. The investment will support continued development of the company’s AI infrastructure, accelerate sales and marketing initiatives, and enable the platform to serve more than 10,000 locations across the United States.
The seed round was co-led by Slow Ventures and Collide Capital, with participation from Connexa Capital, I2BF Global Ventures, Bienville Capital, and Elevated Inc.. The financing reflects growing investor interest in AI-driven software designed to improve operational efficiency for businesses managing large networks of physical locations.
Founded in 2022 by Jared Schwartzentruber, Prefix Maintenance was created to address longstanding inefficiencies in facility management for restaurant and retail operators. Companies with hundreds or thousands of locations often rely on fragmented networks of service providers, manual coordination, and outdated maintenance systems that increase costs and slow repairs. Prefix’s platform serves as a centralized coordination layer that connects national brands with vetted local technicians while automating communication and workflows through artificial intelligence.
The company’s software manages on-demand and preventive maintenance across essential trades, including HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, and general repairs. By integrating AI into dispatching, vendor coordination, communication, invoicing, and work-order management, Prefix helps customers reduce administrative overhead while improving service quality and response times.
Since its launch, Prefix has experienced rapid growth. The company now supports nearly 2,000 locations across approximately 50 customers, serving well-known restaurant and retail brands including Chipotle, Raising Cane’s, Bojangles, Famous Footwear, Salad and Go, L’Occitane, Punch Bowl Social, and Chuze Fitness. The platform has reached approximately $2.5 million in annual recurring revenue within two years while reporting more than 500% year-over-year growth.
Prefix says its technology delivers measurable operational improvements for customers. The company reports that its AI-enabled workflow provides roughly three times greater operational efficiency while helping customers achieve cost savings exceeding 15% by reducing vendor management complexity, improving repair coordination, and increasing visibility into maintenance operations.
Unlike traditional computerized maintenance management systems that primarily record work orders, Prefix focuses on automating the operational processes surrounding facility management. Its AI-powered platform manages communications between facility managers and service providers, tracks project status in real time, verifies technician activity, and streamlines billing. This approach allows customers to work with local contractors while maintaining centralized oversight across geographically distributed locations.
The newly secured capital will enable Prefix to continue investing in artificial intelligence capabilities that automate increasingly complex maintenance workflows. The company also plans to expand its engineering, product development, customer success, and commercial teams as it grows its customer base nationwide.
Investor support from Slow Ventures and Collide Capital highlights increasing venture capital interest in vertical AI software serving industries that have historically relied on manual operations. Participating investors Connexa Capital, I2BF Global Ventures, Bienville Capital, and Elevated Inc. also backed the company based on its ability to modernize an operational function that directly impacts profitability for large restaurant and retail operators.
Facility maintenance has become an increasingly important area for digital transformation as businesses seek greater operational efficiency amid rising labor costs and expanding physical footprints. Multi-location operators often coordinate hundreds of vendors across multiple markets, making consistency, communication, and cost control significant challenges. Artificial intelligence is emerging as a valuable tool for automating many of these repetitive coordination tasks while improving transparency throughout the maintenance process.
With its latest $7.5 million seed financing, Prefix Maintenance plans to continue enhancing its AI-powered facility management platform while significantly expanding its national footprint. By combining automation, intelligent workflows, and a network of local service providers, the company aims to help restaurant and retail operators simplify maintenance operations, reduce costs, improve response times, and keep critical facilities running efficiently as they continue to scale.
