PRE Security Secures Pre-Seed Funding to Launch AI-Powered Predictive Cybersecurity Platform

PRE Security, a pioneering cybersecurity company focused on predictive AI‑driven threat prevention, has successfully closed an oversubscribed pre-seed funding round that marks a key early milestone in its growth as it works to redefine how organizations defend against cyberattacks. The startup, founded by seasoned cybersecurity veterans Paul Jespersen and John Peterson, is building technology designed to help security operations teams shift from traditional reactive “detect and respond” models to a more proactive “predict and prevent” approach using advances in predictive and generative artificial intelligence.

The pre-seed funding round was led by strategic channel partners and selected angel investors, reflecting PRE Security’s unique “Built By The Channel” investment model that allows global reseller and distribution partners to participate as early shareholders while helping shape the company’s solutions for their markets. Among the earliest investors supporting PRE Security’s vision is Nessar Technologies, a cybersecurity reseller based in Hanoi, Vietnam, whose CEO Nam Nguyen Thac joined as one of the founding partners and early backers of the company.

While PRE Security has not publicly disclosed the total amount raised in this round, the oversubscribed nature of the financing and enthusiastic participation from its strategic partners illustrate strong confidence in the startup’s differentiated approach. By involving channel partners as early investors, PRE Security aims to align go-to-market strategy with market needs, ensuring that customers benefit from products that are shaped directly by those selling and deploying cybersecurity solutions at scale.

PRE Security was founded in 2023 with offices in San Jose, California, and Salt Lake City, Utah, and is led by co-founders Paul Jespersen, who serves as CEO, and John Peterson, CTO. Both leaders bring extensive experience across networking and security companies, having previously worked at major technology firms and cybersecurity startups. Their collective experience includes leadership roles and contributions at companies such as US Robotics, Cisco Systems, NetScreen, Barracuda, Ocular Networks, Zscaler, Comodo, Lastline, and Stellar Cyber.

The company’s technology platform integrates patent-pending AI and machine learning techniques with a Predictive Risk Engine™ that analyzes multi-dimensional data and signals from across an organization’s environment to identify emerging threats before they manifest into active attacks. This proactive model is intended to complement and extend existing security operations tools — including SIEM, XDR, SOAR, and vulnerability management systems — by providing predictive insights and preventative guidance that enable teams to take action ahead of incidents rather than simply detecting them after the fact.

PRE Security’s solution is built around the premise that as cyberattacks grow in frequency and complexity — fueled in part by advances in generative AI and increasingly sophisticated malicious techniques — organizations need tools that move beyond reactive alerts toward predictive intelligence that can preempt threats. The platform’s architecture is designed to work alongside current security toolchains, enriching workflows and offering contextual guidance on areas of risk derived from behavioral and environmental signals.

In addition to its innovative technology, PRE Security has prioritized expanding its leadership and advisory capabilities. Following the funding round, the company announced the appointment of Molly Mae Potter, Vice President of Greenlake Security, Risk, and Compliance at Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) and a U.S. Air Force veteran, to its Board of Directors. Potter brings deep expertise in security governance, strategy, and risk oversight and has held prior leadership roles in security strategy at global technology firms.

PRE Security’s founding strategy highlights a broader trend in cybersecurity investment, where early-stage capital is increasingly flowing into companies focused on AI-augmented defense mechanisms that anticipate threats rather than merely reacting to them. As the threat landscape evolves and organizations seek to manage risk proactively, predictive security platforms that integrate AI analytics are gaining traction with strategic partners and early investors alike.

With its initial funding secured and commercial development progressing, PRE Security is positioned to continue building out its predictive AI cybersecurity platform, deepen relationships with its channel partners, and expand its footprint as organizations worldwide seek more proactive and intelligent cybersecurity solutions.
