Pollinate Raises $200M+ Backed by Insight Partners, Mastercard, and NatWest to Power Digital Banking Infrastructure

Pollinate, a London-based fintech company building cloud infrastructure for banks to create digital commerce and merchant services platforms, has raised significant venture backing as it continues expanding its white-label payment and SME banking solutions across global markets.

The company, founded in 2017 by fintech entrepreneur Alastair Lukies, develops software that enables large financial institutions to modernize their merchant acquiring and digital banking offerings without replacing legacy core systems. Its platform is designed to “wrap around” existing banking infrastructure, allowing institutions to launch services such as onboarding tools, digital marketplaces, loyalty programs, and payment solutions for small and medium-sized enterprises.

Pollinate has raised a total of more than $200 million in venture funding, with its capital base spread across multiple institutional funding rounds. Across its financing history, the company has attracted strong support from both strategic banking partners and global venture capital firms, reflecting its hybrid position between fintech infrastructure and enterprise SaaS.

One of the most significant funding milestones came in its Series C round, where Pollinate raised $50 million, led by Insight Partners. The round also included participation from existing strategic investors such as Mastercard, NatWest Group, and the National Australia Bank (NAB), highlighting strong alignment between the company and major global banking institutions.

Earlier funding rounds also included major institutional participation, with backing from established financial and corporate investors that support the company’s goal of helping banks compete with digital-first fintech challengers. This combination of venture capital and strategic financial institution investment is central to Pollinate’s expansion model, as its technology is often deployed directly within bank ecosystems rather than as a standalone consumer product.

Pollinate’s platform has been adopted by major banking clients, including NatWest through its merchant acquiring product Tyl and its payments service Payit. These deployments demonstrate how the company’s infrastructure enables banks to launch competitive digital services more quickly while maintaining control over customer relationships and data.

The company has also formed strategic partnerships with major technology providers, including Microsoft, to deliver its platform via cloud infrastructure. This has helped Pollinate scale its services across multiple geographies while supporting enterprise-grade reliability and security requirements for financial institutions.

Funding has been used primarily to expand Pollinate’s international footprint, particularly in North America and Europe, where it is working with banks on digital transformation initiatives. The company is also investing heavily in product development to enhance its modular architecture, which allows banks to customize digital offerings without extensive redevelopment of core systems.

Pollinate operates in the rapidly evolving embedded finance and banking-as-a-service sector, where traditional financial institutions are increasingly seeking technology partners to modernize customer-facing services. Its approach positions it as a critical infrastructure provider in the ongoing shift toward digital banking ecosystems.

With more than $200 million in total funding and strong backing from firms like Insight Partners alongside global financial institutions such as Mastercard and NatWest Group, Pollinate continues to scale its platform as banks accelerate digital transformation efforts and compete more directly with fintech challengers in the SME and merchant services space.
