Peltier Raises $12M Seed Round Led by Eclipse Ventures to Build Solid-State Thermoelectric Cooling Technology Platform 

Peltier, a climate-tech startup developing solid-state thermoelectric cooling and energy management systems for industrial and commercial applications, has raised $12 million in seed funding as it works to commercialize next-generation thermal management solutions that eliminate the need for traditional compressor-based systems.

The company is building advanced cooling and heating systems based on the Peltier effect, a thermoelectric principle that enables heat transfer between two surfaces when an electric current is applied. Unlike conventional refrigeration systems, Peltier-based devices have no moving parts, making them quieter, more compact, and potentially more energy-efficient in precision cooling environments. The technology is increasingly used in applications such as electronics cooling, laboratory equipment, medical devices, and microclimate control systems.

The funding round was led by Eclipse Ventures, with participation from Breakthrough Energy Ventures, Lowercarbon Capital, and Engine Ventures, reflecting strong investor interest in electrification and next-generation thermal infrastructure technologies.

Peltier’s core product suite focuses on replacing conventional HVAC and industrial cooling systems with modular thermoelectric platforms that can be deployed in data centers, advanced manufacturing facilities, and energy-constrained environments. The company claims its systems can deliver highly precise temperature control while reducing reliance on refrigerants and mechanical compression systems that contribute significantly to greenhouse gas emissions.

Founded in 2024 by engineers and thermal systems specialists from the semiconductor and clean energy sectors, Peltier is targeting industries where traditional cooling is both expensive and inefficient. Its engineering approach focuses on improving the coefficient of performance (COP) of thermoelectric modules through proprietary materials, heat sink design optimization, and AI-driven thermal load balancing.

Early pilots of Peltier’s technology are reportedly underway with industrial partners in electronics manufacturing and precision laboratory environments, where tight temperature regulation is critical for product quality and research accuracy. The company is also exploring applications in electric vehicle battery thermal management, where efficient heat dissipation is essential for safety and performance.

Investor interest in Peltier reflects a broader shift toward electrified and solid-state climate technologies, particularly as companies seek alternatives to vapor-compression systems that rely on refrigerants with high global warming potential. Venture firms participating in the round have been increasingly backing startups focused on decarbonizing heating and cooling, which account for a significant portion of global energy consumption.

The new capital will be used to expand Peltier’s engineering team, scale pilot deployments, and further develop its proprietary thermoelectric materials and control systems. The company also plans to invest in manufacturing capabilities to move from prototype modules toward commercially scalable products.

As global demand for efficient and sustainable cooling solutions grows, Peltier is positioning itself at the forefront of solid-state thermal management innovation, aiming to redefine how heat is controlled across industries ranging from computing and manufacturing to energy systems.
