Pearl Raises $58M Series B to Expand AI-Powered Dental Diagnostic Solutions Globally

Pearl, a Los Angeles–based leader in AI-powered dental technology, has raised $58 million in a Series B funding round to accelerate the development and global expansion of its dental AI solutions and reinforce its position at the forefront of transforming diagnostic tools in dentistry. This investment is the largest ever raised in the dental AI space and represents a significant endorsement of Pearl’s mission to improve oral health outcomes through advanced artificial intelligence.

Founded in 2019 by ophthalmologist and entrepreneur Ophir Tanz, Pearl has built a suite of machine learning and computer vision tools that assist dental professionals in interpreting X‑rays and other imaging data with greater accuracy and consistency than traditional methods. The company’s flagship product, Second Opinion®, was the first artificial intelligence software to receive FDA clearance for detecting multiple pathologies on dental images, and is now deployed in dental practices around the world. Pearl’s AI technology addresses long‑standing challenges in dental diagnostics — notably inter‑observer variability among clinicians and the difficulty of consistently identifying disease markers such as cavities, bone loss, and other oral health conditions.

Pearl’s dental AI solutions are now used by dental practices across six continents and are commercially available to hundreds of thousands of practices and millions of dental professionals globally, reflecting rapid adoption of AI‑based decision support in clinical workflows. The company’s tools are featured in dozens of imaging and practice management systems, helping dentists deliver objective and transparent findings to patients while enhancing confidence and patient understanding of their oral health status.

The $58 million Series B round was led by Left Lane Capital, a New York and London–based global venture capital and growth equity firm that specializes in backing technology companies with consumer and enterprise-oriented solutions. Left Lane has participated in a number of high‑growth technology investments and its lead role in Pearl’s round reflects strong confidence in the company’s strategy and the broader potential for AI to improve healthcare outcomes.

Joining Left Lane in the investment were several strategic and long-term backers, including Smash Capital, Alpha Partners, as well as existing investors Craft Ventures and Neotribe Ventures. These firms have supported Pearl in earlier stages and continue to back its growth as it broadens the reach and capabilities of its AI systems.

Pearl plans to use the new capital to advance innovation in computer vision and machine learning, expand its regulatory and patent portfolio, and increase global access to its suite of AI solutions for dental professionals. The company is also investing in next-generation technologies designed to enhance patient treatment planning, streamline administrative workflows such as insurance verification, and support clinician workflow integration across diverse clinical environments.

One of the primary goals for the funding is to accelerate Pearl’s regulatory clearance and certification efforts in additional countries, ensuring that its software meets rigorous clinical standards and can be adopted by dental practices in new regions. These efforts bolster the company’s ability to scale its operations and provide dentists around the world with consistent, objective tools that improve the quality and efficiency of care delivery.

Pearl’s leadership says that the investment will also be directed toward broadening the company’s product offerings beyond diagnostic AI, with a focus on areas such as treatment planning, patient communication tools, and insurance claim support systems that leverage AI insights to enhance value for both clinicians and patients. By expanding the breadth of its solutions, Pearl aims to establish a comprehensive platform that supports multiple facets of dental practice performance and patient experience.

Investor confidence in Pearl underscores a broader trend of rapid growth in healthcare AI, particularly in technologies that directly support clinical decision-making and improve diagnostic precision. With this landmark funding round, Pearl is positioned to accelerate its trajectory as a category-defining company in dental artificial intelligence, helping to shape the future of oral healthcare by empowering clinicians with better tools for early and accurate diagnosis of disease.

As the company continues to scale and refine its AI portfolio, its innovations are expected to influence how dental care is delivered globally, bridging gaps in diagnostic consistency and enabling broader access to high-quality, data-driven clinical support.
