Orkes Raises $60 Million Series B to Scale AI Workflow Orchestration for Enterprise Applications

Orkes has raised $60 million in Series B funding to accelerate the expansion of its workflow orchestration platform as enterprises increasingly move artificial intelligence applications from experimentation into production. The Santa Clara, California-based company will use the new capital to expand operations, advance product development, and strengthen its platform for building and managing reliable AI agents and distributed applications at enterprise scale.

The Series B round was led by AVP, with participation from new investor Prosperity7 Ventures alongside existing backers Nexus Venture Partners, Battery Ventures, and Vertex Ventures US. The financing brings Orkes’ total funding to approximately $89.3 million since its founding in 2020 and reflects growing investor confidence in infrastructure software supporting production-grade AI deployments.

Founded by the original architects behind Netflix’s Conductor workflow orchestration platform, Orkes provides a cloud-native platform that enables developers to build, deploy, monitor, and manage complex distributed applications. The company’s technology simplifies the orchestration of microservices, APIs, AI models, and autonomous agents while ensuring resilience, observability, and scalability across enterprise environments. As organizations increasingly integrate generative AI into business-critical operations, reliable workflow orchestration has become an essential component of modern software infrastructure.

The latest funding comes amid accelerating enterprise adoption of artificial intelligence. While many organizations have successfully developed AI prototypes, deploying those applications into production environments remains challenging due to issues involving reliability, governance, security, and operational complexity. Orkes addresses these challenges by providing durable workflow execution, fault tolerance, observability, and orchestration capabilities that allow AI-powered applications to operate consistently at scale.

According to the company, its platform now supports a global developer community with millions of software installations and serves more than 3,000 enterprise organizations worldwide. Since completing its Series A financing in 2024, Orkes has tripled its customer base while expanding adoption across industries including financial services, healthcare, telecommunications, retail, logistics, and energy. Customers include organizations such as LinkedIn, Twilio, Quest Diagnostics, United Wholesale Mortgage, Woodside Energy, and Naveo Commerce.

Orkes traces its origins to Netflix Conductor, the open-source workflow orchestration project originally developed to power Netflix’s large-scale microservices architecture. After helping create Conductor, the founding team launched Orkes to provide an enterprise-grade managed platform built around the technology while continuing to contribute to the broader developer ecosystem. In recent years, the company has expanded beyond traditional application orchestration to include capabilities designed specifically for generative AI workflows and autonomous software agents.

The new funding will support continued investment in AI orchestration, developer tools, and the company’s recently introduced technologies for managing AI agents in production environments. Orkes has expanded its platform with features including human-in-the-loop workflows, AI model orchestration, and Agentspan, a durable runtime designed to coordinate, monitor, and govern autonomous AI agents operating across complex enterprise systems. These capabilities are intended to help organizations build AI applications that remain reliable even as workflows become increasingly sophisticated.

The Series B follows Orkes’ $20 million Series A financing announced in 2024, which was led by Nexus Venture Partners with participation from Battery Ventures and Vertex Ventures US. That round supported the company’s expansion into AI orchestration and accelerated adoption of its enterprise platform. Prior to the Series A, Orkes emerged from stealth in 2022 after raising a $9.3 million seed round backed by Battery Ventures and Vertex Ventures US.

Investor interest in Orkes reflects a broader shift toward infrastructure platforms capable of supporting enterprise AI at scale. As businesses move beyond pilot projects, demand has increased for software that provides governance, resilience, observability, and operational control across increasingly complex AI-powered systems. Rather than focusing solely on model development, Orkes positions itself as the execution layer that enables organizations to deploy AI applications confidently in production while maintaining enterprise-grade reliability.

With fresh backing from AVP, Prosperity7 Ventures, Nexus Venture Partners, Battery Ventures, and Vertex Ventures US, Orkes plans to continue expanding its platform as enterprises accelerate adoption of AI-driven software. By providing the orchestration layer that connects applications, services, and intelligent agents, the company aims to help developers build reliable, scalable systems capable of supporting the next generation of enterprise artificial intelligence.
