Myosin Therapeutics Raises $3M+ Seed Round to Advance Glioblastoma and Neuroscience Drug Pipeline
Myosin Therapeutics, a clinical-stage biotechnology company developing first-in-class therapies targeting molecular motor proteins, has raised over $3 million in a second seed funding round aimed at advancing its oncology and neuroscience drug pipeline into clinical development.
The company is focused on developing novel treatments for aggressive cancers and neurological disorders by targeting non-muscle myosin II (NMII), a molecular “nanomotor” involved in cell movement, invasion, and survival. Its lead candidate, MT-125, is being developed for glioblastoma, one of the most aggressive and treatment-resistant brain cancers, and has received FDA orphan drug designation for malignant gliomas. The company is also advancing MT-110, a separate program targeting methamphetamine use disorder, an area with no FDA-approved therapies.
The funding round was led by DeepWork Capital, a Florida-based venture firm focused on early-stage technology and life sciences companies, alongside Florida Opportunity Fund and Mint12 Pharma. Additional participation came from Dynagrow Capital, the private investment arm associated with Fred Hassan, as well as Mayo Clinic Ventures, and The Sontag Innovation Fund. The round also included continued support from non-dilutive funding sources such as the National Institutes of Health, which has contributed to early-stage research underpinning the company’s platform.
Myosin Therapeutics was founded as a spinout from The Herbert Wertheim UF Scripps Institute in Jupiter, Florida. The company is led by CEO Dr. Courtney A. Miller, alongside co-founders Dr. Patrick R. Griffin and Dr. Theodore Kamenecka, who collectively bring extensive experience in neuroscience, medicinal chemistry, and translational drug discovery. Their work has focused on advancing molecular motor biology into therapeutic applications, particularly in areas with limited treatment options.
The new capital is expected to support the progression of MT-125 into a Phase 1b clinical trial for glioblastoma patients, while also advancing MT-110 toward first-in-human studies. The company plans to use the funding to expand clinical operations, strengthen biomarker discovery efforts, and further validate its proprietary approach to targeting cellular mechanics rather than traditional biochemical signaling pathways.
Unlike conventional oncology drugs that target single signaling cascades, Myosin Therapeutics’ approach focuses on disrupting the mechanical functions of cancer cells by inhibiting NMII activity. This strategy is designed to impair tumor cell migration and invasiveness, potentially limiting the spread of highly aggressive cancers such as glioblastoma.
The involvement of investors such as DeepWork Capital, Florida Opportunity Fund, and Mayo Clinic Ventures reflects growing interest in translational biotech platforms that combine academic discovery with clinical development potential. These backers have emphasized the company’s differentiated scientific approach and its focus on high-unmet-need indications across both oncology and neuroscience.
With the latest financing secured, Myosin Therapeutics is positioned to accelerate its clinical development roadmap, advance multiple programs into early-stage trials, and further establish its platform as a novel approach to targeting disease through molecular motor inhibition.
