Morningscore Raises $700K in New Funding Round

Morningscore, a Denmark-based SEO software startup, has raised $700,000 in a new funding round aimed at accelerating product development and expanding into new international markets. The round includes participation from existing investors, angel backers, and strategic partners who share the company’s vision of making SEO more accessible, intuitive, and even fun for small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs).

Founded in 2018 and headquartered in Odense, Morningscore has developed an all-in-one SEO tool that blends traditional performance metrics with gamification elements. Unlike other platforms that require advanced SEO knowledge, Morningscore uses a mission-based system that guides users through improving their websites step by step—making it particularly attractive to entrepreneurs, marketers, and small business owners with limited technical expertise.

“We’re on a mission to make SEO simpler and more actionable for everyone,” said Karsten Madsen, CEO and founder of Morningscore. “This funding allows us to double down on product innovation, expand our reach globally, and continue helping businesses grow their online visibility in a way that’s easy to understand and actually enjoyable.”

The new capital injection will support the next phase of product development, including the introduction of advanced features such as AI-powered recommendations, improved competitor analysis, and deeper integration with e-commerce platforms like Shopify and WooCommerce. The company also plans to expand its development and customer support teams to better serve its growing user base, which currently spans more than 90 countries.

With the SEO industry becoming increasingly complex—and crowded—Morningscore’s unique gamified approach has helped it carve out a niche. Users earn “missions,” score points based on SEO progress, and are rewarded for completing tasks that improve their search engine rankings. The result is an experience that transforms what can often feel like a tedious or opaque process into a clear, goal-oriented journey.

“Our customers don’t want to spend hours reading technical SEO documentation—they want results,” said Madsen. “We’ve built a platform that delivers those results while also keeping users engaged and motivated.”

Investors backing the round cite Morningscore’s customer retention, product-led growth strategy, and differentiated user experience as key reasons for their continued support.

“Morningscore has managed to build a loyal global user base without massive marketing budgets,” said Anders Holm, one of the participating angel investors. “Their product speaks for itself, and that’s exactly the kind of startup we want to back—one that grows because customers genuinely love using it.”

SEO remains a critical component of digital marketing, with global spending projected to exceed $120 billion by 2026. However, many SMBs still struggle with adopting effective SEO practices due to cost, complexity, and lack of in-house expertise. Morningscore aims to fill that gap by offering a simple, affordable solution that demystifies search engine optimization without compromising on functionality.

The startup has been bootstrapped for much of its journey, growing steadily through word-of-mouth and product-driven referrals. With the new funding, Morningscore is targeting key English-speaking markets—including the U.S., U.K., and Australia—while continuing to build out its presence in Europe.

In addition to growth and development, the company is investing in customer education through webinars, blog content, and in-app tutorials designed to help users get the most out of the platform.

“This funding is more than just capital—it’s a vote of confidence in our mission,” said Madsen. “We’re here to make SEO simpler, smarter, and more human, and we’re excited to take the next step in that journey.”

As Morningscore continues its push to democratize SEO, the company stands out as a rising player in the space—combining powerful features with a playful, user-centric approach that’s resonating with a new generation of marketers and business owners.
