Kabilio Raises €4 Million to Transform Accounting with AI-Powered Automation Platform
Barcelona‑based startup Kabilio has secured a major early‑stage financing boost as it works to transform how accounting firms and their clients collaborate using artificial intelligence. Founded in 2024 by José Ojeda and Álex Valls, the company has developed an AI‑powered platform designed to automate repetitive accounting and tax processes, improve data accuracy, and significantly reduce the manual workload that has long characterised the accounting industry in Spain and beyond.
In November 2025, Kabilio announced it had closed a €4 million pre‑seed funding round, one of the more substantial early‑stage financings seen in Spain’s tech ecosystem this year. The financing was led by Visionaries Club, a Berlin‑based European venture capital firm known for backing B2B technology startups, and Picus Capital, a global early‑stage investor with offices in Munich, New York, London, and Bangalore that focuses on technology‑driven companies across sectors such as SaaS, fintech, and AI.
Alongside these lead investors, Kabilio’s €4 million round included €200,000 in public funding from ENISA, the Spanish national innovation agency that supports high‑potential startups and SMEs through loans and public investment. The combination of private and public backing highlights broad confidence in Kabilio’s approach to modernising an industry that serves millions of small and medium‑sized enterprises and self‑employed professionals.
Kabilio’s platform leverages generative AI and automation tools to streamline core accounting workflows that historically have required significant manual input. These include intelligent invoice processing — capable of ingesting documents from multiple channels and handling complex cases such as intra‑community VAT and reverse charges — and advanced bank reconciliation through secure connections with more than 99 % of Spanish banks. A Verifactu‑compliant invoicing module allows for real-time invoice synchronization between clients and their accounting advisors, eliminating the need for manual uploads and data transfers. Nearly 100 accounting firms in Spain have already adopted the platform, with early users reporting productivity gains of up to 50 % through the automation of repetitive tasks and improved operational efficiency.
The €4 million pre‑seed investment will allow Kabilio to expand its engineering and product teams, accelerate development of new AI‑driven features — including its conversational AI assistant “Kabi” — and strengthen its sales and support capabilities to meet growing market demand. The funding also aims to support broader adoption across accounting firms in Spain, where fragmented practices and regulatory complexities make automation particularly valuable.
“We’ve seen firsthand the challenge of attracting and retaining talent in accounting firms because much of the work remains manual and repetitive,” said co‑CEO José Ojeda. “This investment gives us the definitive push to help firms reduce their teams’ workload and focus on delivering more value to their clients, which is where their true expertise lies.”
Co‑CEO Álex Valls echoed this view, noting that AI will do more than optimise existing workflows — it has the potential to fundamentally reshape how accounting advisors and their clients interact, easing compliance burdens and allowing firms to offer more strategic insights rather than being mired in administrative tasks.
Investors in the funding round have emphasised that Kabilio’s generative AI platform addresses a genuine market need, particularly within the Spanish accounting sector, where tens of thousands of firms handle millions of client accounts but still rely on traditional manual processes. By automating core functions and improving accuracy, the platform not only boosts efficiency but also helps firms better adapt to the increasing complexity of regulatory and tax requirements.
Kabilio’s funding success also reflects broader trends in the European startup landscape, where venture capital interest in AI applications that target specific industry pain points — such as accounting, legal tech, and financial services — continues to grow. With AI adoption accelerating across professional services, investors see significant potential in platforms that can deliver tangible productivity improvements and reduce operational bottlenecks.
As Kabilio moves into 2026 with new capital and an expanding customer base, its leadership has signalled plans to deepen product capabilities, enhance client support, and explore future growth opportunities within Spain and potentially beyond. While the company’s near‑term focus remains on the Spanish market, its success to date positions it as a promising player in the broader landscape of AI‑driven solutions for accounting and financial professionals.
