Vice President, Investor Relations

Initialized Capital, an early stage venture capital firm with more than $3.2B assets under management, is hiring a vice president of operations to lead our operations team. We are the earliest investors in 25 unicorns, some of which include Coinbase, Instacart, Flexport, Rippling, Standard Cognition, and Blend. This full-time role reports to the president and is based in San Francisco, California or New York, New York.

Initialized is seeking an Investor Relations Professional to join the firm. This is a new role for Initialized and the successful candidate will be joining the organization at an important time in the firm’s maturity as its success to date has increased the nature and breadth of the client-related activities within the organization. This hire will be responsible for managing existing client relationships for Initialized as well as supporting the firm’s fundraising efforts. S/he will help manage the firm’s client activities including developing and maintaining relationships with existing and prospective investors, and supporting all new business, fundraising, marketing, and new product development initiatives.

The successful candidate will be tasked with improving the existing IR infrastructure. Bringing world-class training to the firm, s/he will work to enhance the existing client service functionality to ensure that the organization is working in a best-in-class manner across client reporting, client relationship management tracking, etc. This includes responding to ad hoc client inquiries/data requests, sales of interest, ongoing CRM and pipeline management, etc. The candidate will maintain a detailed knowledge of the investment portfolios in client accounts to facilitate responsiveness to client questions and information requests. S/he will be responsible for creating and updating marketing firm marketing materials and any other client collateral as appropriate. In addition, the successful candidate will be tasked with running the firm’s LP, LPAC and quarterly update events, which will necessitate meaningful internal and external coordination.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 8-10 years of overall industry experience is required, including experience in a client-facing role initiating and managing relationships at an established investment management firm that has meaningful exposure to alternative asset classes.
• Strong conceptual, quantitative, and analytical skills; ability to understand and articulate Initialized’s investment pitch and to understand models and speak fluently around fund metrics.
• Ability to effectively prioritize a large set of responsibilities and manage projects from start to finish with attention to detail and effectively take ownership of and move projects forward independent of immediate guidance from team members.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively as part of a team within a broader organization, including cooperating with teams across the organization and communicate effectively with team members.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to make an immediately positive impression.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to clearly articulate complex concepts, ideas and processes with the presence, maturity, and credibility necessary to present effectively to sophisticated institutional investors and internal colleagues.
• Ability to operate effectively in a highly regulated industry, consequently, knowledge of and compliance with detailed compliance policies and procedures and licensing requirements, parameters, and limitations is critical.
