Job Description
Who are we looking for?
RACE is the UKAEA’s centre for Remote Applications in Challenging Environments. Working within UKAEA policies, RACE seeks to collaborate with other end users, partners and customers to strengthen existing relationships and create new as opportunities arise.?
The Commercial Manager will be responsible for helping RACE deliver the Business Plan to assist with the growth of this Business Unit. RACE has a very diverse portfolio of activities and commercial types and this role will be at the front end of shaping and advising activities.
To be successful as the Commercial Manager for RACE you will be proficient in commercial writing/drafting and be able to deliver work and projects to tight deadlines. You will require strong influencing skills and the ability to communicate positively and effectively with stakeholders across the organisation, and also outside of the organisation.
What will you be responsible for?
– Be able to communicate and discuss commercial matters with members of the RACE team and wider UKAEA.
– Ability to engage astutely with 3rd parties who may be funders, partners or suppliers in order to secure appropriate commercial relationships.
– Provide relevant commercial advice, management, and direction to the RACE Team. This includes contract review, negotiation and management as well as advising the technical teams on the correct commercial strategies for their projects.
– Good knowledge of different Commercial arrangements, including Collaborations, Consortiums and contracts.
– Support the programme teams with the creation and management of a wide range of contracts and collaboration agreements.
Qualifications
Essential skills, experience and competence required
– Knowledge and experience of UK legal [contractual] framework.
– Knowledge and experience of negotiating and operating a range of contract models.
– Commercial management experience in a scientific/technical environment.
– Delivery focussed coupled with experience of working to tight/fixed deadlines.
– Experience working with people with different cultures/languages.
– Negotiation skills.
– Contract writing skills.
