Intalus Tech Raises $11M Seed Round Led by Origin Ventures to Scale Ceramic-Infused Advanced Materials Platform 

Intalus Tech, a U.S.-based advanced materials startup developing ceramic-infused metal systems for extreme industrial environments, has raised an $11 million seed round as it moves to scale production of its proprietary material technology for aerospace, defense, energy, and industrial applications.

The company is building engineered materials that integrate ceramic properties directly into metal structures, rather than applying surface coatings. Its approach is designed to create components that can withstand higher heat, corrosion, and mechanical stress than conventional alloys, making them suitable for demanding use cases such as propulsion systems, turbine components, hypersonic applications, and high-performance industrial machinery.

The seed round was led by Origin Ventures, with participation from Scout Ventures, Lockheed Martin Ventures, and additional strategic investors active in aerospace and defense innovation. These backers bring a mix of venture capital expertise and direct industry alignment, particularly in mission-critical systems where material failure is not an option.

Intalus has been developing its technology for several years and is now transitioning from advanced R&D into scaled manufacturing and commercial deployment. The company is also expanding production capabilities in partnership with Purdue University’s Hypersonic Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center in West Lafayette, Indiana, which is expected to support pilot-scale manufacturing and validation of its ceramic-metal composite systems.

According to reporting on the round, Intalus’s core process—described as a form of targeted phase infusion—uses energy-based techniques to embed ceramic structures within metal components at a microscopic level. This differs from traditional coating methods, aiming instead to fundamentally alter the internal properties of the material itself, improving durability and performance under extreme thermal and mechanical conditions.

Investor interest in Intalus reflects growing demand for advanced materials that can support next-generation industrial systems, including defense modernization programs, aerospace propulsion, and space infrastructure. Firms such as Lockheed Martin Ventures and Scout Ventures have been increasingly active in backing startups that develop dual-use technologies with both commercial and national security applications.

The funding will be used to expand manufacturing capacity, scale engineering teams, and accelerate commercialization efforts with early customers across aerospace, defense, and industrial sectors. A key priority for the company is increasing production throughput while maintaining precision in its material integration process, which is critical for ensuring consistency in high-performance applications.

Early engagement with industry players suggests strong interest in materials that extend component lifespan and reduce maintenance costs in harsh environments. Intalus’s technology is positioned to serve sectors where traditional metals degrade quickly under stress, creating significant operational and safety challenges.
