Glue Raises $20M Led by Abstract Ventures to Build Agentic AI Team Chat Platform
Glue, a San Francisco–based AI-native collaboration platform building “agentic team chat” that embeds autonomous AI workflows directly into workplace communication, has raised $20 million in Series A funding to expand its product and infrastructure.
The round was led by Abstract Ventures, with participation from Chapter One, Hack VC, Goldcrest Capital, and Craft Ventures, which also incubated the company. The funding underscores strong investor conviction in Glue’s vision of transforming workplace communication into an AI-driven execution layer rather than a traditional messaging tool.
Glue operates at the intersection of team messaging and AI automation, positioning itself as a “multiplayer agentic workspace” where humans and AI agents collaborate inside structured threads instead of conventional chat channels. The platform integrates Model Context Protocol (MCP), enabling AI agents to connect with thousands of external tools and internal systems to execute tasks directly inside conversations.
Rather than functioning as a standalone chatbot or productivity assistant, Glue is designed to act as an orchestration layer across enterprise tools. Users can trigger actions such as pulling data, updating systems, or executing workflows across platforms like project management tools, databases, and developer infrastructure—all without leaving the chat environment. The system dynamically determines which connected tool or agent should handle each task.
The company has developed what it describes as one of the largest in-app MCP directories, allowing teams to connect dozens of integrations instantly while supporting custom servers for enterprise workflows. This architecture is intended to eliminate fragmentation between workplace apps and centralize execution within a single conversational interface.
Glue’s approach reflects a broader shift in enterprise software toward “agentic systems,” where AI does not just assist users but actively performs tasks and coordinates workflows. The platform supports multiple large language models, including GPT-style systems and open-source alternatives, enabling flexibility across different enterprise requirements and performance needs.
The company was co-founded by Evan Owen and David Sacks, and has positioned itself as a next-generation alternative to traditional workplace communication tools by merging messaging, automation, and AI execution into a unified system.
Funding from the Series A round will be used to expand engineering capacity, scale infrastructure, and accelerate product development as Glue moves to onboard more enterprise customers. A significant portion of the capital will also go toward improving AI agent reliability, expanding integrations, and growing its go-to-market organization.
Glue is part of a rapidly growing category of startups rethinking enterprise collaboration, where the future of work tools is increasingly defined by autonomous systems capable of taking action rather than simply facilitating communication.
With $20 million in fresh capital led by Abstract Ventures and supported by Chapter One, Hack VC, Goldcrest Capital, and Craft Ventures, Glue is now focused on scaling its agentic communication platform and positioning itself as a foundational layer for AI-powered workplace execution.
