Function Health Raises $298 Million Series B at $2.5 Billion Valuation to Expand AI-Powered Personalized Health Platform

Function Health, a rapidly growing health technology company that provides consumers with comprehensive lab testing and AI‑powered health insights, has secured $298 million in a Series B funding round, propelling its valuation to $2.5 billion and marking a major milestone in its mission to make preventive and personalized healthcare more accessible.

The oversubscribed financing round was led by Redpoint Ventures, a venture firm with a long history of backing transformative technology companies. In addition to the lead investment, the round included participation from prominent investors such as a16z (Andreessen Horowitz), Aglaé Ventures, Alumni Ventures, Battery Ventures, NFDG (the investment firm co‑founded by Nat Friedman and Daniel Gross), and high‑profile individuals including Roku founder Anthony Wood as well as NBA athletes Allen Crabbe, Blake Griffin, and Taylor Griffin.

Founded in 2023, Function Health combines comprehensive lab testing, advanced diagnostics, and artificial intelligence to help members monitor more than 100 health biomarkers and gain personalized insights into their wellness. The platform’s annual membership offers access to lab tests from thousands of Quest Diagnostics locations across the United States, providing users with a detailed picture of key biological indicators related to heart health, hormones, thyroid function, nutrient levels, immune response, aging factors, and more.

The latest funding closely follows the company’s rapid expansion and reflects surging demand for proactive health management tools that go beyond episodic doctor visits. With more than 200,000 members and a total of over $350 million in capital raised to date, Function has established itself as a leader in the preventive healthcare space by enabling individuals to track and interpret their own health data over time.

As part of the Series B announcement, Function Health unveiled its Medical Intelligence Lab, a new initiative focused on developing a generative AI model trained by physicians to deliver highly personalized health insights. The model synthesizes data from lab results, medical records, imaging scans, and wearable devices to empower members with actionable guidance tailored to their unique health profiles. Users can interact with the technology via an AI‑powered chatbot that references their personal health history to answer questions and suggest next steps.

“AI has transformed many aspects of our lives, yet its application to individual health has lagged behind,” said Jonathan Swerdlin, CEO and co‑founder of Function Health. “This funding enables us to accelerate development of our platform so that people can not only access their health data, but understand and act on it in ways that were previously out of reach.”

Function’s model emphasizes data privacy and security, meeting HIPAA standards and fully encrypting user information. The company has stressed that it does not sell personal health data, ensuring that member privacy remains a core priority even as the platform scales.

The company’s ability to integrate diverse sources of health information into a cohesive, user‑centric experience sets it apart from many wellness and health tech competitors. Function’s approach is device‑agnostic and combines diagnostics, laboratory results, and clinical expertise rather than relying solely on passive tracking or wellness app interfaces. This breadth of integration allows users to see a more complete picture of their health and take meaningful action based on trends rather than isolated readings.

Function Health’s rapid growth is underscored by its partnership expansion, which includes collaborations with major health, wellness, and sports organizations. These partnerships help broaden the company’s reach and distribute its preventative health tools to wider audiences, contributing to sustained subscriber growth.

Investors have praised the company’s ambition and execution in addressing persistent gaps in healthcare accessibility and preventive care. Redpoint Ventures and participating backers view Function’s combination of comprehensive testing, personalized data analysis, and AI‑driven insights as a promising model for consumer health innovation.

The Series B funding will be used to scale Function’s engineering and AI development teams, expand distribution and partnerships, and continue enhancing the Medical Intelligence Lab’s capabilities. With significant capital and a growing user base, Function Health is positioned to accelerate its vision of empowering individuals through data‑driven health management and usher in a new era of personalized preventive care.
