Exwayz Raises €1M to Advance GPS-Free 3D Localisation for Autonomous Systems
Exwayz, a Paris‑based deeptech startup developing centimetre‑level 3D localisation and navigation software for autonomous systems operating without GPS, has raised €1 million in funding to accelerate its growth and commercial expansion. The round, announced in late 2025, was led by CentraleSupélec Venture, marking a significant early investment in the company’s Simultaneous Localisation And Mapping (SLAM) technology and its ambition to make reliable positioning accessible to a broad range of autonomous robotic and mobility platforms.
Exwayz was founded in 2021 by CEO Hassan Bouchiba, CTO Mathias Corsia, and COO Antoine Plat to address one of the most persistent challenges in autonomous systems: the inability of robots, autonomous vehicles, and industrial machines to reliably determine their position in environments where GPS signals are weak or unavailable, such as indoor spaces, ports, warehouses, and dense urban areas. The company’s proprietary SLAM software, designed to combine LiDAR sensor data with onboard processing, enables robots to localise themselves and navigate with centimetre accuracy without relying on GPS.
The €1 million funding package includes not only the investment from CentraleSupélec Venture but also a grant from the prestigious France 2030 i‑Lab Innovation Competition, a government‑backed programme that supports high‑impact deeptech innovation in the country. This mix of private and public funding reflects the strategic importance of localisation technology for the future of autonomous systems and underlines France’s broader commitment to nurturing home‑grown deeptech companies.
Exwayz said the funding will be used to grow its technical and research teams, particularly in areas such as algorithms, 3D vision, and data science, and to industrialise and harden its software for broader commercial deployments. The company plans to expand its R&D capabilities to improve the robustness and performance of its SLAM solution and accelerate its go‑to‑market efforts across sectors including logistics, industrial inspection, mobility, and autonomous robotics applications.
In addition to the financial backing, Exwayz has been building strategic partnerships to demonstrate and scale its technology in real‑world environments. Swiss autonomous systems provider Embotech is working with Exwayz to deploy its SLAM software in fully autonomous trucks operating in ports and logistics hubs where GPS reliability is limited. Embotech has announced plans to operate 30 autonomous trucks equipped with Exwayz technology at the Port of Rotterdam in 2026, where the systems are expected to enhance the efficiency and safety of container handling operations.
In the United States, Boston‑based geospatial data company Cyvl.ai is utilising Exwayz SLAM to generate high‑precision 3D road maps used for infrastructure management across more than 200 municipalities. The partnership highlights Exwayz’s utility beyond robotics, extending into geospatial services and smart infrastructure mapping where centimetre‑accurate localisation is critical for tasks such as predictive maintenance and urban planning.
The recent funding also coincides with the appointment of Yves Bonnefont — the former Stellantis executive who led software and digital transformation initiatives at the major automotive group — as a non‑executive advisor and business angel investor in Exwayz. Bonnefont’s involvement brings deep industry experience in automotive software and reinforces investor confidence in the company’s strategy and technology roadmap.
Exwayz’s SLAM technology is already in use across five continents, validating its performance and reliability in a variety of operational settings. Beyond robotics and autonomous vehicles, its localisation solution has applications in factories, warehouse automation, inspection robotics, and beyond, positioning the company at the intersection of multiple fast‑growing markets for automation and autonomous systems.
The funding round led by CentraleSupélec Venture underscores the growing investor interest in deeptech companies that are addressing foundational challenges in autonomy, such as perception, localisation, and navigation — areas that are critical enablers for the next generation of smart machines.
