DAMAE Medical Raises €15M Series B to Expand AI-Powered 3D Skin Imaging Platform
Paris-based medtech innovator DAMAE Medical has raised €15 million in a Series B funding round to accelerate the deployment of its groundbreaking deepLive™ imaging platform, which uses artificial intelligence and 3D digital biopsy technology to transform dermatological care and skin cancer diagnosis. The round represents a major growth step for the company as it scales its non-invasive diagnostic solutions and expands clinical adoption.
The Series B financing was led by Creadev, a prominent private equity investor focused on long-term value creation, with significant participation from Kurma Partners, ISPB, and BNP Paribas Développement. This latest investment underscores confidence from both venture and corporate backers in DAMAE Medical’s technology and its potential to reshape patient pathways in dermatology.
Founded in 2014, DAMAE Medical has pioneered advanced optical imaging systems for skin disease diagnostics. Its core innovation, deepLive™, integrates Line-field Confocal Optical Coherence Tomography (LC-OCT) with AI to deliver real-time, cellular-scale visualisation of skin structures without the need for traditional biopsies. This approach allows clinicians to make faster, more accurate decisions at the point of care, reducing patient discomfort, streamlining clinical workflows, and enabling earlier detection of skin cancers such as melanoma and carcinomas.
The €15 million Series B funding will primarily support the commercial rollout and scaling of deepLive™, broadening access to dermatologists in Europe and internationally as the technology continues to gain clinical traction. DAMAE Medical has reported that deepLive™ is already being integrated into routine practice by early adopters in France and abroad, helping clinicians assess lesion margins, optimise surgical planning, and make immediate diagnostic decisions during patient consultations.
Investors emphasised both the maturity of DAMAE Medical’s technology and the strength of its clinical evidence as key reasons for backing the company. deepLive™ is rooted in more than a decade of research, with contributions from Professor Arnaud Dubois and collaborators at institutions including the CNRS, Institut d’Optique, and Université Paris-Saclay. The platform has been validated in numerous scientific publications and is increasingly recognised as a novel clinical tool for non-invasive skin imaging.
In recent years, DAMAE Medical has also advanced regulatory and market milestones. Its deepLive™ system has received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), paving the way for deployment in the United States and supporting expansion into new clinical settings and health systems. This regulatory progress, combined with ongoing adoption across multiple countries, positions the company for accelerated growth in key markets.
Prior to the Series B, DAMAE Medical had already gained significant backing and validation through earlier funding rounds. In 2022, the company raised €5 million in a Series A financing led by BNP Paribas Développement, with follow-on support from historical investors such as Kurma Partners and Paris Saclay Seed Fund. That round was aimed at expanding commercial deployment of the deepLive™ platform across France, Germany, and Italy while investing in additional product functionalities and artificial intelligence capabilities.
The company’s funding journey also includes earlier seed and grant support, notably a €2 million investment round in 2017 that helped advance its initial imaging technology and development, as well as a €2.4 million grant from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme to support clinical validation and scale-up efforts.
DAMAE Medical’s leadership highlights that the Series B financing will expand the company’s ability to work with healthcare providers, support regulatory and clinical strategy, and ultimately bring digital biopsies into mainstream dermatology practice. The technology’s ability to provide immediate cellular-level insight promises to reduce delays in diagnosis and treatment, potentially improving outcomes for millions of patients worldwide.
With €15 million in new capital and a growing international footprint, DAMAE Medical is entering a phase of scaling and commercial acceleration. The company aims to make deepLive™ a standard tool in dermatological diagnostics, helping clinicians deliver faster, more precise, and less invasive care while driving broader adoption of AI-enabled medical imaging technologies.
