CVM Electric Secures Growth Investment Led by Stonebridge Partners to Accelerate Expansion

CVM Electric, a Buffalo, New York-based electrical contracting company, has secured new growth capital through a recapitalization transaction led by Stonebridge Partners, marking a significant milestone for the family-owned business as it enters its next phase of expansion.

The transaction, which closed on January 26, 2026, was completed in partnership with founder Carlo Madonia Jr. and his sons, Tre and Kyle Madonia. Under the deal, the Madonia family retains a significant ownership stake in the company and will continue to lead day-to-day operations. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

In addition to Stonebridge Partners, the transaction included debt financing and co-investment support from Brookside Capital Partners and Northcreek Mezzanine. The investment is intended to support CVM Electric’s continued growth, expansion of services, and operational development across its markets.

CVM Electric is a full-service electrical design and installation contractor serving commercial, residential, industrial, and institutional customers throughout Western New York. The company traces its roots to a family electrical business dating back to 1919, while the current iteration of CVM Electric was established in 1981 by Carlo Madonia Jr. Over the decades, the company has grown into a major regional contractor providing power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, data cabling, energy systems, and design-build electrical construction services.

The company has built its reputation on delivering electrical construction and maintenance solutions ranging from small-scale residential projects to multimillion-dollar commercial and industrial developments. Its portfolio also includes photovoltaic solar installations, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, energy-efficient lighting upgrades, thermographic imaging, and communications cabling services.

Stonebridge Partners described the transaction as an opportunity to partner with a well-established family-owned business with strong market fundamentals and a history of operational excellence. The private equity firm focuses on lower middle-market companies and has completed dozens of investments across manufacturing, distribution, infrastructure, and service sectors. CVM Electric represents the firm’s 36th platform investment and its 14th investment within the infrastructure and building products segment.

As part of the partnership, Stonebridge plans to work closely with CVM Electric’s management team to accelerate growth initiatives. These efforts are expected to include geographic expansion, continued investment in personnel and systems, and the development of additional service capabilities. The company will also seek to strengthen its operational infrastructure to support future growth opportunities.

The recapitalization comes at a time when demand for electrical contracting services is being driven by infrastructure modernization, renewable energy projects, electrification initiatives, and increased investment in commercial and industrial facilities. Growing adoption of electric vehicles, distributed energy systems, and energy-efficiency technologies has also expanded opportunities for contractors with expertise across multiple electrical disciplines.

For CVM Electric, the transaction provides access to additional financial and strategic resources while preserving family leadership and continuity. The Madonia family will continue guiding the business while benefiting from the operational and growth expertise offered by its new investment partners.

Brookside Capital Partners and Northcreek Mezzanine played important roles in supporting the transaction through a combination of debt financing and equity co-investment. Their participation reflects broader investor interest in infrastructure-related service businesses that benefit from long-term demand trends tied to construction, modernization, and energy transition projects.

With the recapitalization completed, CVM Electric is positioned to pursue additional growth opportunities while maintaining its focus on customer service and technical expertise. Backed by Stonebridge Partners and supported by Brookside Capital Partners and Northcreek Mezzanine, the company enters its next chapter with new resources to expand its footprint and strengthen its position in the Western New York electrical services market.
