Axis Raises $5M Led by Galaxy Ventures to Scale On-Chain Market-Neutral Yield Infrastructure
Axis, a quantitative on-chain yield protocol building institutional-grade arbitrage infrastructure for digital assets, has raised $5 million in a private funding round led by Galaxy Ventures, marking a major milestone as the company scales its multi-asset yield platform spanning USD, Bitcoin, and gold-linked strategies.
The round also included participation from several prominent crypto-native and trading-focused investors, including OKX Ventures, FalconX, CMT Digital, Maven 11, GSR, and CMS Holdings, reflecting strong institutional appetite for transparent, market-neutral yield infrastructure in decentralized finance.
Founded as a fully on-chain quantitative fund, Axis operates a delta-neutral arbitrage engine designed to generate yield without exposure to directional market risk. The protocol aggregates inefficiencies across fragmented crypto markets and converts them into structured yield products accessible through its on-chain infrastructure. Its flagship offering, USDx, is a dollar-denominated asset designed to deliver stable returns generated through automated trading strategies executed across multiple venues.
Axis has also reported that it deployed approximately $100 million in capital during its closed beta phase, using live trading strategies to stress-test its system across volatile market conditions. According to publicly available performance data, the protocol achieved a Sharpe ratio of 4.9 during testing, highlighting its focus on risk-adjusted returns rather than directional speculation.
The company’s broader vision is to build a multi-asset yield hub that provides uncorrelated returns across major stores of value, including USD, Bitcoin, and gold. This approach positions Axis as part of a growing category of “real yield” protocols attempting to bridge traditional quantitative finance strategies with blockchain-based transparency and accessibility.
Investors such as Galaxy Ventures have framed the protocol as a step toward institutional adoption of decentralized finance, emphasizing its transparency and risk-managed structure. Other participants in the round bring complementary expertise in liquidity provision, market-making, and digital asset infrastructure, reinforcing Axis’s positioning at the intersection of hedge fund strategies and on-chain execution.
Beyond its core yield products, Axis is developing infrastructure to support large-scale capital deployment through its upcoming Origin Vault, which is expected to serve as the entry point for institutional and sophisticated investors. The company has stated that it aims to scale deposits significantly ahead of a broader protocol launch and token distribution phase.
The $5 million funding round will be used to expand engineering capacity, strengthen trading infrastructure, and accelerate the rollout of Axis’s yield products across multiple asset classes. The company is also investing in integrations with blockchain infrastructure providers to enhance transparency, including proof-of-reserve and custody verification systems.
As decentralized finance continues to mature, Axis is positioning itself within a competitive but rapidly expanding segment focused on institutional-grade, non-directional yield generation. Its emphasis on arbitrage-based strategies and verifiable performance metrics differentiates it from lending-based DeFi protocols, which typically rely on borrower demand and collateralized lending markets.
With backing from leading firms including Galaxy Ventures and OKX Ventures, Axis is now moving toward scaling its infrastructure and preparing for broader market deployment, as demand increases for transparent, market-neutral yield products in digital asset markets.
