Augment Raises $85 Million Series A to Accelerate AI Teammate Augie for Global Logistics
Augment, an AI productivity platform for the logistics industry, has raised $85 million in a Series A funding round, bringing its total funding to $110 million just five months after launching out of stealth. The round was led by Redpoint Ventures with participation from 8VC, Shopify Ventures, Autotech Ventures, and several other prominent investors with expertise in both AI and logistics.
Augment’s flagship product, called Augie, is designed as an AI teammate that automates key logistics workflows. Augie handles tasks such as quoting, dispatch, tracking, appointment scheduling, document collection, and billing across multiple communication channels including email, phone, chat, and online portals. By reducing manual work and streamlining the order-to-cash process, the platform enables logistics companies to operate more efficiently and focus on strategic activities.
Since emerging from stealth, Augie has already been adopted by a growing base of third-party logistics providers and shippers. The platform currently supports over $35 billion in freight under management, demonstrating rapid traction within a traditionally complex and fragmented industry.
Customers using Augie are reporting measurable operational improvements. Among the reported outcomes are a 40% reduction in invoice delays, acceleration of billing cycles by about eight days, and a recovery of more than 5% gross margin per load. These improvements also lead to significant savings in labor costs associated with tracking and tracing shipments, giving logistics companies both financial and operational benefits.
Augment was founded by Harish Abbott, an experienced entrepreneur who previously co-founded Deliverr, a logistics technology company that was acquired by Shopify for approximately $2.1 billion. Abbott now serves as CEO of Augment, leveraging his background in logistics and e-commerce to guide the company’s ambitious growth strategy.
With the fresh capital, Augment plans to accelerate the development of Augie’s capabilities and expand its team. The company aims to hire more than 50 engineers to advance product innovation and build deeper integrations with transportation management systems, freight portals, load boards, and communication tools. Future enhancements will include support for multimodal operations and the creation of a freight-native knowledge base that enables Augie to proactively manage shipments and optimize logistics workflows.
Augment operates from key logistics hubs including San Francisco, Chicago, and Toronto, positioning itself close to both technology talent and major transportation markets. By combining AI-driven automation with a deep understanding of logistics, the company is seeking to redefine how freight is managed, giving operators the ability to cut costs, improve accuracy, and enhance customer satisfaction.
The company positions Augie as more than just an automation tool. Rather than focusing on isolated tasks, Augie is built to understand the full context of a shipment and take proactive action. This approach allows logistics teams to shift their attention from routine manual work to higher-value strategic initiatives, helping them navigate the increasingly complex demands of global freight management.
With its substantial funding, rapid adoption, and a leadership team with a strong track record in logistics technology, Augment is well placed to scale its AI platform and drive a new wave of efficiency and innovation across the logistics sector.
