Agtonomy Raises $22.5 Million in Series A Funding
Agtonomy, a prominent software and services company specializing in cutting-edge autonomous and AI solutions for agriculture, has successfully secured $22.5 million in a Series A funding round. The funding was led by Momenta, with strategic partners including Doosan Bobcat North America and Toyota Ventures. This marks the fifteenth company to receive investment from Momenta’s Digital Industry Fund III, powered by Advantech, the global leader in digital industrial solutions.
Agtonomy plans to utilize the funds to expand its customer pilot program and expedite the development of its innovative offerings, thereby propelling the digital transformation in agriculture. Tim Bucher, Co-Founder and CEO of Agtonomy, highlighted, “Agtonomy’s technology is designed to be embedded in equipment and implements, upskilling available labor. Through collaboration with established OEMs, we expedite the introduction of our sustainable technology to the market, providing crucial solutions to address the pressing challenges of labor shortages and climate change for farmers and land maintenance operators.”
“Agtonomy resides at the intersection of AI, Autonomy, and Agriculture, representing a perfect storm of opportunity within our Industrial Impact investment focus. With their leading autonomy stack, they offer an essential solution for top-tier OEMs, such as Doosan Bobcat,” stated Michael Dolbec, Managing Partner at Momenta.
Looking ahead, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization predicts that by 2050, we will need to produce 60% more food on a smaller amount of land to feed a growing global population of 9.3 billion. Simultaneously, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics anticipates only a 2% increase in employment of agricultural workers from 2020 to 2030, slower than the average for all other occupations. The skilled labor crisis, combined with the escalating impact of climate change, compounds challenges for farmers and, more broadly, land maintenance operations.
